Kerala Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Welfare Fund was formulated on 10/04/1992 as per G.O(P) No. 12/92/SWD and amended as per G.O(P) No. 6/93/SWD dtd 06.05.1993. The fund was constituted as Board as per G.O(P)94/13/Fin dtd 07/03/2013. Under section 10th of Kerala Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Welfare Fund ordinance 2016 (5 of 2016).
The Board shall consist of members nominated by the Government as hereinafter provided, namely:-
A person nominated by the Government, he shall be Chairperson of the Board;
Four members representing Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi Helpers;
An expert having special knowledge in the matters relating to women and children and having sufficient skill to deal with the matters;
Director, Women and Child Development Department;
An officer of the Women and Child Development Department not below the rank of Additional Secretary;
An officer of the Women and Child Development Department not below the rank of Additional Director he shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Board;
An officer of the Finance Department not below the rank of Deputy Secretary;
An officer of the Law Department below the rank of Joint Secretary.
As per G.O(MS) No.523/2016/SJD dated 11.11.2016 the Government of Kerala introduced a Welfare fund with the contribution of Rs. 200/- from Anganwadi workers and Rs.100/- from Anganwadi helpers. The Government of Kerala contributes 50% of total contribution. The Welfare fund is functioning under a Chief Executive Officer attached to the Directorate of Women and Child Development Department, and an accountant attached to all District WCD Offices. District Women and Child Development Officer (DWCDO) is the district level inspecting officer.
The benefits provided loans for education, treatment, marriage, house construction, and educational award.
Membership : All permanent Anganwadi Workers and Helpers are members of this welfare fund.
Contribution to the fund
Contribution of Anganwadi Worker : Rs. 200 per month
Contribution of Anganwadi Helper : Rs. 100 per month
Govt. contribution is 50% of total Contribution
